Paralegals in Canada as Professionals are qualified by education, training, and experience to engage in substantive legal work including managerial or administrative duties, working independently but under the ultimate direction of a lawyer. The work performed by Paralegals is generally of a nature that requires sufficient knowledge of legal concepts. Paralegals may be called law clerks, legal assistants, legal technicians, and technical clerks and play an important role in providing effective legal services to fellow Canadians. Learners and teachers alike were forced to adjust learning and teaching methods virtually overnight but discovered that this was not just plausible but in fact opened up many doors of opportunity.  Elmar Samuel Paralegal Academy Inc.  in recognition of these unprecedented demands, created a platform to make available online training equal in value to that of the traditional classroom in the area of legal supports. '

Thus, our vocational training program, was borne out of the pandemic and strategically designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to learn and earn a certificate in substantive legal studies without having to leave the comfort of their private dwelling or offices and at a preferred and convenient pace. 

What To Expect in 32 weeks or less

The vocational program commences with an overview of Canada's Constitution, the Administrative branches of government and the essentials of legal research. Students will move on to jurisprudent study of principles and concepts of law as set out in relevant legislation, statutes and the common law.  The program material is supported digitally by subscription to the designated publication strictly focused on Alberta. This unique opportunity is 100% online and required over a period of up to 32 weeks.  Upon successful completion, assessment and having achieved the required 80% overall average, a Paralegal Substantive Laws Certificate will be issued. Depending on motivation or goal, graduates are encouraged to continue their journey and to champion their legal career aspirations through further studies.
